TYPES OF YACHT REGISTRATION
The following types of yacht registration services may be obtained in Jamaica
- Private Charter
- Under Construction
A provisional certificate of registry may be issued to all types of registration except Yacht Under Construction.

REGISTRATION OF MORTGAGES
Mortgages on vessels may be registered and restrictions on registration may also be recorded where they exist. Registration requires a duly completed mortgage document.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATION FOR COMMERCIAL VESSELS
Commercial Yachts must fulfill additional requirements which may be executed as parallel activities in the registration of the vessel such as safetyandoperationalcompliance.ThismayincludetheissuebyaJamaicaapproved surveyor/auditor/Recognized Organization of the relevant Convention or statutory certificates.
The absence of such certificates does not necessarily prevent a yacht from being registered however; a commercial yacht may not operate without them.
Registration of the vessel may be declined for safety and operational reasons even though a vessel may meet all ownership requirements for registration and all required supporting documentation are provided.
Required forms and supporting documentation may be provided either as originals or electronically initially,in the case of provisional registration. If provided electronically, it should be accompanied by an undertaking to deliver the originals or certified hard copies within thirty day (30) days.
Signatures may be witnessed by a Registrar of Jamaica, a Notary Public or any person authorized by law to administer oaths.
