REGISTRATION OF YACHT UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNDER JAMAICA FLAG

YACHT REGISTRATION  UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN JAMAICA

Yachts under construction should be registered in Jamaica following same procedure for standard registration, but in such instances charges other than the registration fee are levied until the yacht is ready for navigation. Mortgages and liens can also be recorded upon yachts under construction already registered. Certificates for this type of registration will be issued as "NOT VALID FOR NAVIGATION" and will be replaced for regular ones as soon as the construction is finished and the yacht complies with all necessary requirements for a safe navigation.

The following documents in copies should be provided for registration of  YACHT UNDER CONSTRUCTION with validity of 6 months:
 
  • Application for yacht name Proposal and Reservation
  • Application for Registration of a Yacht
  • Company Documents: Certificate of Incorporation, Notice of Directors or Similar Document, Certificate of a Good Standing
  • Builder’s Certificate*  
  • Power of Attorney for Yacht Owners
  • Payment of the respective fees for the registration of the yacht
*Depending on case of registration requested, the following additional supporting documents may be required:
 
  • Letter from the Shipyard
  • Construction Contract
Upon completion of construction, all other requirements for the standard registration of a yacht (as applicable) will be required.
