ILO MLC Services

The 2006 Maritime Labor Convention entered into force on 20 August 2013. This Convention is primarily aimed at improving the working conditions of seafarers and protecting their social rights. The Maritime Labor Convention has become the fourth convention along with STCW, SOLAS and MARPOL in IMO maritime legislation. The requirements of the MLC 2006 apply not only to crew members, but also to shipowners and also to crewing companies.

Our Classification Societies provide the following services in accordance with the Convention:

  • Certification of your vessel to the MLC 2006, which includes an appropriate inspection of the vessel followed by the issuance of a temporary and permanent maritime labor certificate and a maritime labor compliance declaration from the Greek Phoenix Register of Shipping.
  • Voluntary certification of a crewing company for compliance with the Convention.
  • Preparation of a crewing company for certification.
  • All types of consultations on the MLC 2006.
