PRIVATE YACHT REGISTRATION UNDER JAMAICA FLAG

The procedure for registration of PRIVATE YACHT consists of two stages:

  • Provisional
  • Permanent

PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION OF PRIVATE YACHT IN JAMAICA

In accordance with Merchant Shipping Act, 1998 Provisional registration of yachts in Belize is valid for six months. During this time the Ship owner or his Representative is expected to submit all required documents for Permanent registration.

The following documents in copies required for Provisional registration of Private yacht:

  • Application for yacht name Proposal and Reservation
  • Application For Registration of a Yacht
  • Company documents: Certificate of Incorporation, Notice of Directors or Similar Document, Certificate of a Good Standing
  • Proof of Title in form of Bill of sale (if Ownership changed) OR Builders Certificate (if New Build)
  • Application for Radio License
  • Declaration of private use for a yacht
  • Power Attorney for yacht owners
  • Application for Minimum Safe Manning (> 24m)
  • Payments of the respective fees for the registration of the yacht

PERMANENT REGISTRATION OF PRIVATE YACHT IN JAMAICA

The following is a list of documents which must be submitted within 6 months for the Permanent registration of PRIVATE yacht:

  • Original Application for Registration of a Yacht
  • Company documents in certified copies: Certificate of Incorporation, Notice of Directors or Similar Document, Certificate of a Good Standing
  • Original Certificate of Deletion
  • Original Proof of Title in form of Bill of sale (if Ownership changed) OR Builders Certificate (if New Build)
  • Original Application for Radio License
  • Original Valid Certificate of Survey
  • Original Carving and Marking Note
  • Original Application For Minimum Safe Manning (>24m)
  • Payment for Permanent registration

Please note that all documents must be in the English language or, if not in English, accompanied by an English translation thereof.

It is a condition of registration that all yachts should comply with the national legislation and regulations of each State in whose territorial waters they operate.

CHARTER REGISTRATION

One of the great advantages is the possibility to register a non-commercial private yacht on conditions of charter without changing its type from private into commercial for up to 28 calendar days if requested necessary documents are available.
