The procedure for registration of a commercial yacht under the flag of Cook Islands consists of two stages:
PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION OF COMMERCIAL YACHT IN COOK ISLANDS
According to the Merchant Shipping Code, 1989, the provisional registration of pleasure yachts is valid for 6 months. During this term, the owner or his representative provides all the documents necessary for the permanent registration of the yacht.
The following documents required for provisional commercial yacht registration:
- Application form for registration signed and stamped
- CIYS Company Certificate / Letter of Membership
- Bill of Sale / Builder’s certificate (for new building)
- Proof of Ownership of shares of owners (if more than one owner)
- Carving and Marking Note including current vessel photo
- Preliminary inspection (if applicable)
- Proof of deletion from the previous flag
- Proof of detach from the previous flag (when registering a charter)
- Completed copies of all previous closed CRs (according to SOLAS regulation 5-8 chapter XI-1) (all муыыуды over 500GT)
- Copy of the P&I rule confirming financial security for provisions 2.5 and 4.2 of the MLC
PERMANENT REGISTRATION OF COMMERCIAL YACHT IN COOK ISLANDS
- The following documents required for permanent commercial yacht registration:
- CIYS Company Certificate / Letter of Membership
- Original application form for registration, signed and stamped
- Carving and Marking Note, including current yacht photo
- Preliminary inspection (if applicable)
- Proof of deletion from the previous flag
- Proof of detach from the previous flag (when registering a charter)
- Completed copies of all previous closed CRs (according to SOLAS regulation 5-8 chapter XI-1) (all yachts over 500GT)
- A copy of the P&I rule confirming the financial security for rules 2.5 and 4.2 of the MLC
